Rosie's Hat By Julia Donaldson and Anna Currey
Macmillan, £5.99

BEAUTIFULLY illustrated this book is a delight for young children.

It's one of those books which parents will love to read out loud, with great sounds to repeat on each page.

Children, aged around three, will love to join in and will enjoy the illustrations as we're taken on a journey when Rosie's hat blows off.

Unusually for this type of book, Rosie actually grows up into a fire officer and ends up finding her hat when she goes up a tree to rescue a cat. She even looks back on it all with her husband sitting on the sofa.

Kids might miss the irony of that discovery, and the fact that a couple of decades have moved on since the book began!

But they won't care, they will just love all the animals and characters we meet on the way, and especially those sounds.

The same author had a big hit with children's book The Gruffalo. And Rosie's Hat is likely to be similarly popular.
